RESUMO

Lyme's borreliosis is characterized by the variety of its revealing symptoms, which may explain an often delayed diagnosis. We report on a case of a child affected by Lyme's disease, confirmed by serology, who presented a particular form consisting in an isolated intracranial hypertension. This rare form must be known and diagnosed early in order to avoid serious complications such as optic nerve atrophia in the absence of an appropriate treatment.

RESUMO

Anorexia nervosa (AN) concerns 1% of adolescent girls and happens at a time of intense bone growth. Adolescents who develop AN before or during puberty have growth retardation and may not achieve their genetic height potential. Osteopenia, as evidenced by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry, is also frequent. The degree of osteopenia depends on the age of onset and the duration of AN. The role of estrogen deficiency is no more considered paramount with regards to other factors like the fall of growth factor IGF1. The prevention of osteopenia in AN relies mostly on early nutritional intervention. Hormone replacement therapy or calcium/vit D supplements are not sufficient to improve bone density in undernourished patients. New therapeutic strategies combining anabolic and antiresorptive agents are being developed.

RESUMO

We sought a relationship between disorders of the narcissistic transition during pregnancy and post-partum depression. We designed a self-report questionnaire VASANT (Visual Analogic Scale for Assessment of Narcissistic Transition) in an attempt to identify women at risk from post-partum depression. A preliminary validation was carried out on 52 pregnant women. Seventeen women (33%) were identified using a semi-directive interview as suffering from a disorder in the narcissistic transition. These women had a significantly higher VASANT score (67.7 +/- 14.2 versus 20.2 +/- 8.4) than the others and had a higher incidence of post-partum depression. The value of the VASANT scale for prediction of post-partum depression is discussed.
